On Fandom

“In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell…”

That’s how it all started for me. I read that and started a journey that hasn’t stopped yet. It’s a simple thing, but much like Alice once I fell down the hole it went all kinds of interesting places.

Where did your journey start? What has you hooked and won’t let go now? Ever wonder if there are other people that want to dig deeper into the sort of stuff that interests you – and not just on some random internet post or at the bottom of a Reddit thread?

Watch the Skies is an informal Science Fiction and Fantasy group in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. This will be the third year that our little group of fans has a table at a local science fiction event (in Carlisle!) . We are now in our nineteenth year of existence. Each month we randomly pick a member’s book choice to read and discuss the following month. Along with the book discussion, we also spend a bit of time on whatever is new in movies, TV, books and anything else imaginable. In fact that’s mostly what its about, imagination. Call it a monthly field trip through someone else’s head with no real rules other than keeping your appendages inside the windows at all times. We’ve had authors, artists and editors visit our group. We also publish our spiffy fanzine every month! You know the only thing missing? YOU!

We want to hear from you. Check out our web page at Watch The Skies or find us on Facebook (somebody’s always got something to say there) and join the conversation. Even better – write something up or send us some artwork! We’d love to see what you have to offer!
